In the customary address to the last sitting of the 15th session of the 14th Lok Sabha, Advani, projected as the BJP's prime ministerial candidate, noted that the elections are expected to be announced "within a couple of days."
"Today is the last day of the last session of this Lok Sabha. People will now elect a new Lok Sabha. The election dates may be announced just two to three days after this session ends today," he said.
"We all will fight for it...I hope it will be a good fight and its result will also be good," he said.
Advani also said the he would have been glad if Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would have been present in the House on the last day of the last session of the Lok Sabha.
The BJP leader noted that he did not want to analyse the performance of the UPA government over the last five years.
"Today is not the day to evaluate the work in the last five years ... I will not talk about it because it can lead to controversy," he said.
