BHEL bags Rs 3,700 crore order in Karnataka

Electrical engineering major Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) today said it has bagged an order worth Rs 3,700 crore from Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL).

Electrical engineering major Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) on Thursday said it has bagged an order worth Rs 3,700 crore from Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL).

"Valued at Rs 37,000 million, the order has been placed on BHEL by Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) for setting up the 700 MW supercritical unit-3 at Bellary thermal power station (TPS) in Karnataka, on turnkey basis," the company said in a statement.

According to the company, Bellary thermal power plant is already equipped with a BHEL-built 500 MW thermal set (unit-1), while the unit-II also of 500 MW, is under execution by it.

BHEL has commissioned about 5,000 MW of power generating sets in the state, which include thermal as well as hydro units of various ratings.

It is also executing a 2x800 MW Yeramarus supercritical power plant of Raichur Power Corporation Limited (RPCL), a joint venture (JV) between KPCL and BHEL.

The electrical equipment's giant has a capability of 15,000 MW delivering power equipment per annum and further augmentation to 20,000 MW per annum is underway.
