The Congress on Sunday attacked senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley over his reported comment that his party was using Hindutva as an opportunistic tool.

But the BJP came in defence of Jaitley. Congress leader Shakeel Ahmad said that everybody in the country knows that the BJP is using religion as opportunistic political tool. What the WikiLeaks has exposed is not a secret. While telecom minister Kapil Sibal said that the BJP gave full credence to the WikiLeaks.
"So we test them by their own standards." Jaitley has maintained that he had not used the word 'opportunistic'; while talking to Robert Blake, charge at the US Embassy.
However, he characterised this as an opportunistic issue. Reacting to it, Shakeel Ahmad said the Congress is not surprised by the reaction of BJP and Jaitley on the issue.
He said that when anything in the cables is against the Congress and the government, they believe it as gospel truth but if something goes against them, they have different point of view.
The BJP retaliated by saying the Congress is throwing expired missiles of allegation from the sinking ship of corruption. BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said his party does not need any certificate for its nationalism and ideological commitment from Congress or its government.
