A 30-year-old Delhi Police constable allegedly shot himself dead with his service pistol at his residence in northeast Delhi's Gokalpuri area on Monday morning.

The victim was under depression after the untimely death of his younger brother who died in a road accident around four months back.

The constable, Vipin Malik, lived with his family in Ganga Vihar area and had joined Delhi Police in 2003, police said.

A senior police officer said Malik's wife Namita was preparing breakfast in the kitchen while her two children were at school when the incident happened.
