It also said the organisers as well as others involved should ensure that the country’s prestige does not suffer.

“We are definitely worried a little with it (reports of delays and irregularities). The irregularities should be probed and those guilty punished,” party spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed said.

The BJP also demanded a high-level probe into the alleged corruption in works related to Commonwealth Games 2010. The BJP on Saturday announced to stage a massive dharna (sit in) at Parliament Street on Monday.

Trashing Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s reported comment that she does not know about CVC report, former Delhi Chief Minister Madan Lal Khurana said, “We don't want to disrupt Games. But once the Games are over, Sheila (Dikshit) will have to give account to the nation of every paisa spent.”

Commonwealth Games,” Khurana and Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta said. Referring to the amount of approximately R 2 crore paid to a UK firm, Gupta said, “Organising Games is a matter of pride for the country. But this corruption trail to London has exposed the wrong face.”
