Delhi will soon have 15 new special courts where cases of corruption being investigated by the CBI will be taken up.

Following a request by the Centre, Delhi Cabinet, presided over by chief minister Sheila Dikshit, on Wednesday decided to set up these special courts.
Union law minister M Veerappa Moily had written to all the chief ministers urging them to fast track setting up and operationalisation of special courts in their states to try cases of corruption being investigated by the CBI.
"We have decided to set up 15 special courts in the city soon to try cases being probed by the CBI," said a minister.
In the letter, Moily had drawn attention of the chief ministers to the Prime Minister's announcement a year ago to set up 71 special courts across the country.
While the courts will be financed by the Centre, the state governments have to ensure appointment of magistrates for the same. The states will also have to inform where such courts need to be set up.
Out of 71, so far only 10 CBI courts have been set up though the announcement was made over a year ago.
