Delhiites sweat it out at 40° C, temp to rise

Mercury hovered around 40 degrees Celsius mark across north India, with the national Capital experiencing sultry weather after a few days of respite.

In Delhi, mercury climbed to 40.6 degree Celsius during the day, a notch above normal, and humidity rose to 77%, against Friday's 39.4 degrees Celsius. Pre-dawn temperature was 26 degrees Celsius, 1.5 notches above the last last reading of 24.5 degrees Celsius.

According to weathermen, similar conditions will prevail in the city on Sunday and with mercury likely to touch 42 degrees Celsius.
