ESPN irked over 'inaction' in Piracy case

ESPN Software India is miffed with Gurgaon police's inaction on its complaint against a local cable operator accusing him of piracy, violation and breach of copyright issues.

In its complaint, ESPN had alleged that Quali TV owned by Tejpal Singh Sejwal alias Mukesh Chaudhary was illegally airing satellite channels (ESPN, Star Sports and Star Cricket) without paying the subscription fee causing huge revenue loss to the company.

According to CEO Vijay Rajput, ESPN had earlier taken an injunction order against Quali TV from the Delhi High Court restraining the operator from telecasting the World Cup. But it launched Gurgaon Digital Network violating the HC order.

Chaudhary claimed his company was not involved in piracy and customers were watching matches on Doordarshan.
