Singh, who was recently elected president of Jat Mahasabha, said since Jats are “economically and socially weak”, the Centre should fulfill their long-pending demand.

“It will enable our youth to get jobs in central public sector units and other government offices,” he told a conference of Jat leaders from various states.

CM of Delhi and Haryana Sheila Dikshit and Bhupinder Singh Hooda and civil aviation minister Ajit Singh were present at the function. In her address, Congress spokesperson Renuka Chowdhary asked Jat leaders to stop female foeticide.

“According to health ministry reports, over two lakh cases of female foeticide have taken place in western UP, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana” she said.
