Five arrested for attacking woman in pub

Five men, including a model and the son of an officer posted in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), were arrested for allegedly having assaulted a 25-year-old woman and her husband at a pub in central Delhi's Khan Market, police said.

Police said the incident had been reported on the evening of International Women's Day on March 8.

The arrested have been identified as Manish, the CBI official's son, Vikas, a model, Rohit Sehgal, Kamaldeep and Paramdeep - who are in the real estate business.

"The incident took place around 11:30pm when the victim had gone to the restaurant with her husband and some relatives. The men had allegedly passed lewd comments at her: incensing her and prompting her to slap one of them," said an officer.

When she slapped one of them, one of them got hold of a beer bottle from the table and smashed it on her face. When her husband tried to come to her aid, he was assaulted severely by the accused gang.

"The accused were nabbed after being identified with the help of footage from CCTV cameras installed in the pub," said an officer. A case of causing grievous injury and outraging the modesty of a woman has been registered.
