The pirated games industry in India is worth $20 million. Almost 70 per cent of games in the market today are pirated. The government has failed to crack down on this illegal business, and people don’t mind poor quality games so long as they’re cheap.

Slow connectivity:
Broadband speed is abysmal in India. It can take as much as two days to download a game here, against 30 minutes in Singapore. That’s one reason even popular games lose punch in India. For eg, Second Life, a massive multiplayer online game takes at least four days to download here, it takes a few minutes in Japan and a few hours in the US.

Manpower:
The industry in India is barely eight years old, so there aren’t many fresh recruits. With new companies sprouting it’s difficult to hold on to employees. In a workforce with an average age of 24, many jump jobs for fresh thrills.
