The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) on Wednesday asked discom BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) to immediately refund those who paid “inflated bills” in June, July or August. “We told BRPL the consumer should get his money now,” said a DERC official who didn’t want to be named.

“We will issue cheques immediately,” responded BSES CEO Gopal Saxena. The discom will deduct a sum that is 30 per cent more than the bill amount in the same period last summer and refund the rest.

So far, consumers had been told their meters would be checked for six months (till April-end next year) against the “check-meters” installed in their premises and refunds, if any, would be settled in May.

However, if the “check meter” later proves the bill was accurate, BSES will take back the refund in May.

So, if you haven’t lodged a complaint, do so now with the DERC, BRPL or state government and get you money.
