The Metro system on Monday recorded its highest ever ridership when more than 17 lakh people opted for it for travelling across the city. The high figures broke the Metro’s earlier June 13 record of 16.93 lakh commuters.
“Delhi Metro recorded the highest ever ridership figure of 17,20,382 on July 4, 2011, which surpassed the earlier record set just 20 days ago on June 13, when 16, 93,488 people travelled by the Metro,” said Anuj Dayal, spokesperson, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
He said the Metro is also registering a ridership of over 16 lakh on each working day for the first time since the past one month.
