Hindu College is yet to declare the final result for the students who applied under the sports and extra curricular activities category, the trials for which were completed on July 9.

The classes for all other students started on July 21.

“Due to certain complaints which are under investigation, the college is unable to finalise admission list for sports/ECA category,” said an official statement issued by the college.

According to sources, the complaints were filed by aspirants and parents against some selections made in preliminary rounds and also against the process of auditions and sports trials. The matter has been referred to the dean of colleges, Delhi University.

But for students whose fate is hanging in balance, the decision is a very callous one. “I have been waiting eagerly. The college was supposed to declare it on July 12 but there is no result till date. I was one of the best performers in the cricket trial and I was sure I had made it. I did not take admission in any other college because of this and now I am panicking,” said an aspirant who did not wish to be named.

This is not for the first time that the ECA and sports admission in Hindu College are in troubled waters. The college had, last year, admitted that there had been irregularities in the admission for ECA and sports category.

This year, the governing body of the college had asked the college authorities to put admission under this category on hold, a move which was rejected by the staff council.
