In 2012, over 500kgs of party drugs were recovered from the airport of which, nearly 400kgs were pseudoephedrine.

CISF sources said they intercepted Anthuama, 49, and Sawithanga, 53, who were going to Guwahati by a SpiceJet flught around 6pm. “They belong to Mizoram and came to Delhi a week ago and were staying at Janakpuri. During interrogation, they told us that they were carriers and would have got Rs 1 lakh on the delivery of the drug at a destination,” Hemendra Singh, CISF spokesperson said. The two were later handed over to the Delhi Police, who detained their associate in Janakpuri.

A customs department official said the drug is smuggled in powder form to the north-east and taken to African countries via Myanmar and Malaysia. Sources said Africa was the main drug market. This is the 11th such case in which the drugs were headed to Guwahati.
