India and Pakistan on Saturday exchanged lists of their nuclear installations and facilities in line with a two-decade-old pact prohibiting attacks on nuclear assets.

This is the 20th consecutive exchange of such lists between the two countries. The first one took place on January 1, 1992.

The Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear Installations between India and Pakistan pact provides for the two countries information of nuclear installations and facilities to be covered under the agreement.

“India and Pakistan on Saturday exchanged, through diplomatic channels simultaneously at New Delhi and Islamabad, the list of nuclear installations and facilities covered under the Agreement on the Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear Installations between India and Pakistan”, the external affairs ministry said.

The officials said the two sides also exchanged lists of prisoners held in each other’s jails under the provisions of a separate agreement.

The two countries are required to exchange lists of prisoners twice a year.
