The issue came up when the Leader of the House, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, while paying obituaries to former Prime Minister VP Singh, MLA Puran Chand Yogi and ex- metropolitan council member Prem Gupta, did not mention the name of inspector Mohan Chand Sharma who was killed on Sepetmebr 19 encounter in South Delhi.

"Despite asked by the Speaker, the Leader of the House (Dikshit) has failed to make any reference to the sacrifice made by the late inspector.

"What message she wants to give to the people? Don't politicise the matter," BJP MLA Jagdish Mukhi said while referring to the statement given by Dikshit soon after the incident that there should be an inquiry in the matter.

At this, Dikshit said "no one can forget the incident in which the police official died. It should not be politised."

BJP members, including Kulwant Rana and Sahib Singh Chauhan, alleged it was the Chief Minister who was trying to "politicise" the death of the policeman.

Earlier, soon after Speaker Yoganand Shastri paid his tribute to Sharma, it was BJP MLA Mohan Singh Bisht who requested the House to include the name of Sharma in obituary references.
