The deceased was identified as Bharat Nagpal. He was a B.Sc second-year student and had been living with his father, Rajesh Kumar Nagpal, mother and an eight-year-old sister at their D-block residence for the past several years.
The deceased’s father runs a grocery shop on the ground floor of their house while his mother is a housewife. The police could not find a suicide note.
They are probing the reasons that forced Bharat to take the extreme step. Family and friends are being questioned to know if he was upset or disturbed due to any reason.
A senior police officer said the suicide was discovered on Monday morning when Bharat’s mother went to his room to serve breakfast and found her son hanging from the ceiling fan.
“The mother raised the alarm after which other members of the family rushed into Bharat’s room. They rushed him to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead on admission,” said the officer.
