Amid speculations that former Haryana minister of state for home, Gopal Goyal Kanda can surrender before the court on Monday, the Delhi Police continued its raid on all his possible hideouts.

The police seem to have been going soft in the case. A week ago, they had failed to arrest Kanda when he was giving statements to the media from his Gurgaon home a day after airhostess Geetika Sharma committed suicide. She had blamed him for her death in her suicide note.

On Sunday too, a number of raids were conducted in Gurgaon, Sirsa and Faridabad to collect evidence against Kanda and Aruna Chaddha, HR manager of MDLR group.

A day after informing the court that Chaddha was needed to identify and verify the places where Sharma was taken for termination of her pregnancies, raids were also conducted at a few clinics in Gurgaon and south Delhi.

“The investigation is taking time because most of the evidence require assistance from cyber experts. Mails were exchanged between Kanda and Sharma and can be treated as evidence,” a senior police officer requesting anonymity said.

During the raid, the police also took away the computer’s hard disc from MDLR’s office in Gurgaon and a team also visited Sharma’s Ashok Vihar house to collect cyber evidence. Police have already taken into custody the victim’s i-phone and laptop.

The police have also confirmed in court on Sunday that over 400 calls and SMSes were sent from a particular phone number to Sharma’s mobile in the past two months. The number belongs to an employee of MDLR, whom police is questioning for the past one week and treating as a witness.

The statement of other MDLR employees also confirmed that Kanda was close to Sharma and had put a chair in Sharma’s cabin and used to sit there most of the time.

The police said that Chaddha had played a crucial role in instigating Sharma to commit suicide by hatching criminal conspiracy in a planned and calculated manner. Since Kanda is absconding, Chaddha’s role

is crucial in gathering evidence as she holds a top position in MDLR group.
