Over 1,000 activists led by VHP International General Secretary Togadia held a protest in Rajouri Garden in West Delhi on Thursday morning, a senior police official said.

Among those who courted arrest were Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Jagdish Mukhi, MLAs O P Babbar, H S Balli and Avtar Singh Hit besides five MCD councillors.

Activists also courted arrest at Hauz Khaz, Paharganj, Ashok Vihar, Nand Nagri and Bhola Nath Nagar.

Vinod Bansal, a VHP leader, claimed that about 7,000 activists took part in the 'Jail Bharao' agitation.

Togadia yesterday said the Amarnath issue was no more limited to Jammu and Kashmir.

The agitation was organised in support of the Sri Amarnath Yatra Sangharsh Samiti's three demands of return of Amarnath land to the Amarnath Shrine Board, restoration of Amarnath Yatra to the Board and recall of Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra.
