Light rain in Delhi NCR, overcast likely to stay today

People in Delhi woke up to light rain on Tuesday morning with minimum temperature recorded at 28.8 degree Celsius.
Though happy with the early morning overcast, commuters ran into traffic jams in north and east Delhi as well as the NCR once it started raining. Weather officials have predicted light rain and even thundershower during the day.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 34.8 degree Celsius. “This morning, 1.6 mm rainfall was recorded at Safdarjung area between 6.30 and 8.30. The humidity was around 92%,” a MeT department official said. Light rain was recorded at Lodhi Road, Ridge, Ayanagar and Hindon stations as well, the official said.

According to the traffic police, heavy traffic was witnessed in several parts of the city as the rain caused delays though no waterlogging was reported yet. Traffic was slow at the stretch from Malkaganj to the Clock Tower, Laxmi Nagar to ITO on Vikas Margh, Dhaulakuan, Azadpur to Prembari and Ashok Vihar.
