After he received the intimation that the President had not accepted the findings/recommendations in Chauhan's case, Justice Manmohan Sarin had written to the ministry seeking reasons in order to be able to comply with the provisions of section 12 (3) of the Delhi Lokayukt and Upalokayukta Act 1995.

Observing that the first letter was sent in June first week, sources from the Lokayukta office confirmed that a reminder has already been sent to the MHA. Sarin had on February 24 recommended removal of Chauhan, Delhi's PWD minister, for trying to protect a leading businessman in a tax evasion case.
