A 30-year-old cable operator was thrashed to death by three of his friends after an argument broke out between them over a petty issue during a party in outer Delhi’s Vijay Vihar on Sunday night.

The police said the victim was attacked on his head with a baseball bat that resulted in severe head injury and eventually claimed his life.
The deceased was identified as Shiv Kumar and he lived with his family in Budh Vihar area near Vijay Vihar.
Two of the accused, identified as Harvinder and Sunil, were arrested following raids. The third accused Rakesh is still absconding. Raids are being carried out at possible hideouts of Rakesh to nab him, said the police.
According to a senior police officer, the incident came to light after a passerby saw Kumar lying unconscious at an isolated place, some distance away from his house, and made a call to the police control room.
“Kumar was immediately rushed to the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. A case of murder was registered at the Vijay Vihar police station and a team was constituted to investigate it,” said the senior officer.
During investigation, the officer said, it was learnt that Kumar was last seen with his three friends, who were absconding from their house.
“It was also learnt that one of the suspects, Harvinder, had a personal enmity with Kumar because the latter had lodged a case against him in 2011. We conducted several raids and apprehended Harvinder and Sunil,” the officer added.
