Man stabs self, cooks up story to get free treatment

A 26-year-old man from Nagaland stabbed himself following an argument with his female friend. The incident took place at his rented accommodation in Safdarjung Enclave late Monday night.

The victim was inebriated when the incident happened. The next morning, he realised his mistake and cooked up a false story, with help from the girlfriend, to get free treatment.

In their complaint, the couple alleged that they had been strolling in a park when two assailants passed lewd comments. When they protested, one of the men stabbed him.

A case was registered at Safdarjung Enclave police station. “We found discrepancies in their statements. After intense questioning, they revealed the actual story,” said a senior police officer.
