After the December 16 incident when a 23-year-old woman was gangraped in a bus with tinted films and curtains, the authorities have become strict about ensuring implementation of the Supreme Court ban on tinted windows.

Removing black film can cost a car owner anywhere from Rs 50 to Rs 200, depending on the type of film and car.

Jugnu Dhawan, who owns a car accessories shop on Panchkuian Road, said the number of vehicles visiting his shop to get tinted glasses removed has seen a sharp rise in the past few days. "At least four to five vehicles are coming to my shop daily since three to four days," Dhawan said.

Dev Bhardwaj, Dhawan's neighbour, said business has suddenly boomed in the last few days. "Immediately after the Supreme Court order, there was a huge rush of people coming to get tinted films removed. But it got quiet in the past few months, until now," he said.
