Delayed monsoon and cool winds drastically brought down temperatures in the city as the maximum temperature was recorded as 26.1 degrees Celsius, a whopping 8 degrees below normal.

The difference between the maximum and the minimum temperature was a mere 3.6 degrees as the minimum temperature was recorded as 22.5 degrees Celsius.

Thursday’s maximum temperature, on the other hand, was recorded as 32 degrees Celsius.

According to senior officials at the India Meteorological Department, the sudden drop in temperature is because of the late withdrawal of monsoons and the prevailing situation wherein a low pressure system is present over east India and a circulation is present over Rajasthan.

“Moist easterlies that are associated with these twin systems brought rains to eth city and also lowered the temperature,” the official said.
The effect, however, is only temporary.

The maximum temperature on Saturday is expected to be 31 degrees Celsius while the minimum will be 23 degrees. No rain is expected over the weekend.
