Nursing professionals said they are planning to intensify their agitation from February 16 unless there is an immediate
correction in their pay structure. It should be noted nurses have been protesting on the pay revisions as recommended by the 6th pay commission for months now.

“Only provisional pay fixation has been done for nurses whereas employees in all other sections are enjoying the new salary scale,” said Padma Prakash, secretary, Delhi nurses union.

“We will resort to hunger strike, two-hour work and one-day mass casual leave” said G.K. Khurana, general secretary of all India government nurses federation.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government maintained it was looking into their grievances and decision on pay revisions take time, as they have to get clearances from several offices.
