Open Day rush on South Campus

Wednesday’s Open Day at the SP Jain Centre in South Campus saw more than 1,300 students and parents in attendance. Delhi University officials were forced to address four sessions against the planned two.

The questions were answered by the principals of Rajdhani College, Ram Lal Anand College (evening) and Acharya Narendra Dev College Vijay Laxmi Pandit, SC Sharma and Savitri Singh along with CATE controller Tapan Basu and English professor Udaya Kumar.

Which college is the best in Delhi University?
There are no differences among colleges in Delhi University. All students get the same degree. The appointment of teachers is on the basis of a procedure that is the same for every college. The minimum eligibility for teachers is the same all over the university. Most off-campus colleges have very good infrastructure.

Do we have to fill the common admission form for admission through sports and ECA quotas as well?
For admissions under these categories, students will have to fill separate forms in each college.

The common admission form will not be accepted by colleges for these categories. The process of trials is also decentralised. Each college will come out with a date for the trials.

For the ECA category, students will have to contact each college for its individual policy.

Is admission to BA(Hons) in English only through CATE?
No. Only 21 colleges are part of CATE — the centralised test for English. The rest of the colleges will admit students on the basis of their cut-offs only.

The next Open Day is scheduled for Thursday at the conference centre opposite Arts Faculty on North Campus from 9am to 1pm.
