Students, many of whom had been missing college because of the murder, that took place on Tuesday, are now looking forward to going back to college on Monday.

“I feel better now that the police know who they are after. Also I have heard that there are more police personnel between Satya Niketan and the college now. I’m sure the situation will be better now,” said Kanika, a first-year student, who did not want to reveal her full name.

Tanwar, a second-year degree student who lived in Naraina Village, was killed outside her college in Satya Niketan on Tuesday by a man who was believed to have been stalking her for some time.

Classes in South Campus colleges — especially RLA, Moti Lal Nehru College and Atma Ram Sanatan Dharm College — were adversely affected since Tuesday, because of continuous protests by the student community against the killing.

“The issue was constantly in the limelight due to the various protests and that put pressure on the police to do their job quickly. We are very happy that we could be of some use,” said Mahesh Yadav, a third year student who has been a part of the protests.

But some students still remained unconvinced. “Radhika will not get justice till her killer is caught and punished. Till now, we aren’t even sure if the man the police are talking about is the real culprit. It is all speculation,” said Shivani Nagpal, a second year student of Moti Lal Nehru College.
