Property dealer shot dead

A property dealer was shot dead by armed assailants on early Monday morning, triggering massive protests in Faridabad. Prabhu Razdan reports.

A property dealer was shot dead by armed assailants on early Monday morning, triggering massive protests in Faridabad. Traffic movement on the busy national highway and other parts of the township remained affected for over two hours due to the protests.

The incident occurred when the victim, Ravinder Singh, had gone to attend a wedding ceremony in Machgar area under Sadar Ballabgarh police station on Sunday evening.

Police said some people fired at Singh around 2am in Machgar area. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Sector 21 in a critical condition. Singh later succumbed to his injuries, police said.

The Ballabgarh Sadar police have registered a case against former councillor of Municipal Corporation of Faridabad Kailash Bainsla, his brother Mahavir and four others in connection with the murder.

The death triggered massive protests with people from his village in Neharpar area staging a dharna on the highway near Bhadkal Chowk.
