Finding police ineffective in providing a foolproof security, the Residents' Welfare Association of Sector 15A came up with a two-tier security setup.

The RWA invested about Rs 5 lakh to install of CCTV cameras and also pressed into action a team of private security guards with motorbikes to track the movement of the people in and out of the sector.
The idea took shape in 2006 after the kidnapping of a 3-year-old child of a top MNC executive from a nearby residential colony. Sector 15A consists of around 500 plots and 250 flats, and is barely half-a-kilometre away from the Gautam Budh Nagar SSP office. Individual house security is well-coordinated with the main-security setup. With fencing all around the sector, the RWA has now decided to replace barbed-wire fencing with more advanced spring steel fencing.
The RWA has now decided to upgrade the security setup.
"We have already planned to install high resolution cameras with night vision facilities. We will shortly install barriers to control traffic movement inside. Further investments would be made to enhance security-measures," Anand Shukla, the security in-charge of RWA, Sector 15A, told Hindustan Times.
The security measures made by the residents could well be replicated in other sectors as well, depending on their requirements, to prevent criminal elements from entering the colony premises.
