On Sunday an adult Cobra, one of the deadliest snakes in India was found inside the RK Khanna Tennis Stadium.

According to Wildlife SOS, a call was made to them from the police control room at around 2 pm and a rescue team was sent to Gate No 12.

"A police constable saw the cobra going inside the sewer, which means that it had been roaming around in the area. Our team reached there at 2.40 pm and rescued the snake, which was sleeping inside the sewer. It is a venomous snake and can be dangerous," said Arshad Khan, rescue co-coordinator, Wildlife SOS.

The Wildlife SOS has offered a proposal to the CWG Organising Committee to round up snakes from all the Games venues and sites, as due to the incessant rains chances of them having sneaked into some of the Games premises is high.

There were also reports of snakes being found in the Games Village rooms on Saturday worrying the athletes.

"We are waiting for them to revert back. We have told them that our teams can either be available round-the-clock on call or can also camp inside the venues," said Abhishek Narayanan, helpline co-coordinator, Wildlife SOS.

The cobra was 3.5 feet long and the rescue team had difficulty in locating it as the caller didn’t gave its exact location.
