According to officials, biometric attendance has been installed in 136 of the total 588-odd schools in which around 4 lakh students are enrolled.

“The system has been installed in schools located in west Delhi. Very soon, we will install them in schools in the rest of the city,” said education committee chairman Satish Upadhyay.

He added that in the first phase, the biometric attendance will be marked for teachers and staff of the schools but later on, students may be added to the list.

Over the past few years, the unified MCD had installed biometric attendance for all its departments barring education.
