“Shinde Jaipur comments were derogatory (a)n(d) defamatory. He merely regretted. He sh(o)u(l)d h(a)v(e) apologised. Also sh(o)u(l)d h(a)v(e) condemned Pak terrorists...,” RSS leader Ram Madhav tweeted.

The BJP, however, is treating the matter as closed.

While saying that he understood the RSS’ pain and would have preferred a statement that was more of an apology, BJP chief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “But unconditional regret about his statement on the BJP and RSS is also like an apology.”
