The domestic help who was brutalised by her employer at south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj and rescued on Monday night was sold to a Kotla Mubarakpur placement agency for Rs. 35,000.

Sources claim the girl had been sold several times since she was brought to Delhi by her ‘aunt’ three years ago and as a result the chain of trafficking is not clear.
The girl, who had several small injuries all over her body when she was rescued, is showing signs of improvement and spoke at length on Wednesday with the national child rights panel (NCPCR) team.
The girl told the team that her employer Vandana Dhir, who was arrested on Tuesday, had paid Rs. 5,000 to her ‘aunt’.
“At this time we don’t know whether this woman who she calls her aunt is actually related to her. The girl told us that Dhir did not pay any wages for the four months she worked,” said Vinod Kumar Tikoo, an NCPCR member.
Police are now looking for the placement agency owner and the girl’s aunt. “Their arrest will reveal the trail of trafficking,” said a senior police officer.
“The girl is desperate to meet her mother, who is reaching Delhi on Thursday,” said Kumar.
