The deceased was identified as Mukesh Kumar, a resident of northwest Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar. His friend Ajit, who was riding pillion, suffered minor injuries and was undergoing treatment at Babu Jag Jivan Ram hospital.

The family members of the deceased alleged that traffic police personnel had signaled Mukesh to stop his two-wheeler for checking in the middle of the road.

The mini truck hit the scooter when Mukesh was slowing down, alleged Mukesh’s family.

"Mukesh was slowing down his scooter when the mini truck rammed it. They fell off the scooter and suffered critical injuries. They were rushed to the hospital where Mukesh was pronounced brought dead," said the police officer. The driver was booked for rash and negligent driving causing death and hurt.
