IIM Bangalore has extended the deadline for submitting application forms for this year’s Common Admission Test (CAT) till September 27, 2016. Earlier, the last date for applying was September 22. Click herefor more.

This was announced by the institute today. “The main reason for the extension is to facilitate the students who are still in the process of completing their applications. There are many applicants in this stage, and we have been getting a lot of requests from them,” said Professor Rajendra K Bandi, convener, CAT 2016. “The total number of submitted applications is 2.08 lakh till September 22, which is far in excess of the applications for the comparable period last year. This number is expected to go up further. The corresponding number last year was 1.83 lakh,” Prof Bandi added.

Applicants will be given the choice to select four test cities in order of preference. Test cities and centres will be assigned to them only after the last date for registration. Registration fee will have to be paid online. Once the application process is complete, candidates will be permitted to download their admit card from October 18 till December 4. The test, which lasts 180 minutes, will have three sections on verbal ability and reading comprehension, data interpretation and logical reasoning and quantitative ability. CAT is the biggest national-level entrance test for admission to B-schools, including the Indian Institutes of Management.
