Notably, on Monday, the NTA released the final answer key of JEE Main session 1, paper 1.
NTA had dropped 12 questions asked in different shifts of JEE Main session 1, paper 1 from the final answer key. As per the rules, if a question is dropped, full marks for that question will be awarded to all candidates.

NTA conducted the JEE Main session 1 paper 1 (BE/BTech) exam on January 22, 23, 24, 28 and 29. The paper 1 test was held in two shifts – from 9 am to 12 pm and from 3 pm to 6 pm.
Paper 2 (BArch/BPlanning was held on the second shift of the last day, January 30 (from 3 pm to 6:30 pm).

JEE Main Result 2025 Live: NTA's marking scheme for numerical value questions
- Correct answer: four marks (+4)
- Incorrect answer: Minus one mark (-1)
- Unanswered/marked for review: No mark (0).
- If a question is found to be incorrect or the question is dropped then four marks (+4) will be awarded to all candidates.
Candidates were asked to do the calculations with the constants given (if any) in the questions. The answer should be rounded off to the nearest integer.
JEE Main Result 2025 Live: NTA's tie-breaking rules for paper 1
If two or more candidates get the same NTA score in the JEE Main paper 1 (BE/BTech), NTA will follow this seven-point method to resolve ties-
- The candidate with a higher NTA score in Mathematics will be given preference, followed by
- The candidate with a higher NTA score in Physics, followed by
- The candidate with a higher NTA score in Chemistry, followed by
- The candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the test, followed by
- The candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Mathematics, followed by
- The candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Physics in the test, followed by
- The candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Chemistry.
If the tie can not be resolved after these steps, candidates will be given the same rank.

As per the JEE Main information bulletin, the session 1 result will be announced by February 12. Therefore, the result is expected today or tomorrow at jeemain.nta.nic.in.
JEE Main Result 2025 Live: Marking scheme for multiple-choice questions
- Candidates who marks the correct or the most appropriate answer will get four marks (+4)
- An incorrect answer will result in minus one mark (-1)
- Unanswered/marked for review questions will be given no mark (0)
- If more than one option is found to be correct, then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options
- If all options are found to be correct, then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question
- If a question is dropped, all candidates will get full marks.
JEE Main Result 2025 Live: About the all India Rank
The all-India rank (AIR) of JEE Main is used for admissions through the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) and Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) for admission to NITs/ IIITs/ CFTIs/ SFIs/ others. All participating institutions that do not use the Centralized Seat Allocation Process will prepare their own ranking based on the candidates' performance in JEE Main 2025 and other criteria decided by them.

NTA said that it has taken sufficient care to ensure the correctness of questions. However, if a question is dropped, all candidates will receive full marks for that question.
As per the final answer key, 12 questions from different sessions have been dropped and therefore, all those who attempted those questions will get full marks.
JEE Main Result 2025 Live: How paper 1 result will be compiled
Since JEE Main session 1 for the BE/BTech paper was held in multiple shifts, NTA scores will be calculated corresponding to the raw (actual) marks obtained by a candidate.
The calculated NTA scores for all the shifts will be declared on the NTA websites. This will comprise the NTA scores for each of the three subjects (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry) and the total in the paper 1 exam.

If a candidate provides false information, appear in more than one shift/date, his/her result will not be declared.
Results of candidates who indulge in unfair means practices will be cancelled and will not be declared.

JEE Main Result 2025 Live: Is re-evaluation or re-checking of result allowed?
No. Re-evaluation or re-checking of JEE Main result is not allowed. NTA said it will not look into any correspondence in this regard.
However, one can challenge the result in a court of law.
“All disputes pertaining to the conduct of the JEE (Main) – 2025 Examination including results shall fall within the jurisdiction of Delhi/New Delhi only. Further, any grievance/representation arising out of the Result shall be entertained only when raised within 30 days from the declaration of the result. Further, the copy of the Legal Notice or Writ Petition/ Petition/Appeal/ Reply may be served to NTA only through: legal@nta.ac.in,” NTA said.
