Delhi NGO allies with Canadian varsities for distance-mode programmes

Delhi-based Participatory Research In Asia (PRIA), an international centre for learning and promotion of participation and democratic governance, has tied up with the University of Victoria, University of Toronto and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

The University of Toronto has signed a letter of intent to develop activities or programmes in the area of social policy. The areas of cooperation include an internship at PRIA, two Master’s degrees in global affairs, and promoting public policy. Other areas of collaboration include joint conferences, workshops, establishing fellowships and faculty exchanges.



PRIA and the University of Victoria’s Division of Continuing Studies are teaming up to develop non-credit courses for distance learning in participatory research, adult education and participatory monitoring and evaluation. The other areas of alliance are international internship, collaborative and community-based research and strengthening of institutions.



PRIA and IGNOU are offering an MA in participatory development through the distance mode. They will also offer a certificate in participatory development for frontline workers, field workers, and animators engaged in development projects and programmes of NGOs and the government.
