The Council of Indian School Certificate Examination declares the results of Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Class 10 and Indian School Certificate (ISC) Class 12 board examinations at 3pm on May 14.

In Lucknow, several students who had taken up the exams turned up at their schools or went to religious places, while a few even took to reading books to de-stress themselves.

At St Teresa’s Day School and College in Model House, a number of Class 10 and 12 students were seen interacting with their principal Peter Fanthome, who repeatedly told them not to think too much about their results as there are plenty of opportunities.

“Our principal told us that marks and careers are not the only important things in life. He reminded us to always believe in our school motto: Do All Things Well,” said head girl of the school, Aliya Alvi who is awaiting her Class 12 results. “I’m feeling much relaxed after interacting with him.”

“It was my responsibility to make the students comfortable and ease their pressure. I told them life is more beautiful and precious than marks,” principal Peter Fanthome said.

Kartik Saxena and Insha Naqvi, who are awaiting Class 10 results, were of the view that there is tension but excitement as well.

Students of City Montessori School too are anxious about the results.

“Just when I started enjoying my vacation, it hit me that the exam results were on the horizon. All my happiness turned into anxiety. I am feeling restless,” said Shefali, a Class 12 examinee.

Rithik Srivastava, who was suffering from some health issues during his Class 12 exams, was thankful to the Board and his teachers for giving concessions, like “extra time of 45 minutes”. “Thanks to them, my paper went well. I am hopeful for a good result,” he said.

Another CMS class 12 student, Vishal Singh said the results can make their careers. “Hence, the anxiety level among my friends. I am keeping my fingers crossed and praying for the best,” he said.

Students of Lucknow Public Collegiate said as soon as the dates for the results were announced, their hearts started pounding faster in excitement and anticipation.

“Though I have prepared well and even my papers have gone well, the suspense of whether or not I will achieve the results expected of me is keeping me on tenterhooks,” said Aanchal Jain of Class 12. She, however, said that she was chilling with her cousins who had come after a long time.

Akansha Gautam said her preparations for JEE, besides the support and guidance from parents and teachers had helped her do the exams well.

“I am planning to go to see a matinee movie show with my friends on May 14,” she said.

“Somewhere in the corner of the heart, I am a little bit nervous and excited. I know that the results will be outstanding and I will get the marks more than I have expected, but still I am having goosebumps,” Isprah Singh said.

Divya Tiwari, a Class 10 student, had everything — thumping heart, pulsating nerves, sleepless nights, nightmares, nervousness, fear of not getting enough marks mixed with positive feelings of getting high results.

Harish, a prodigy of SKD Academy Class 12, is aiming to become a software developer for NASA while his classmate Yogesh wants to do his BSc Honours from Delhi University and prepare for civil services.

Ayushi Yadav, a commerce student, is planning to be a company secretary.
