The High Commission of India said in a statement here that the Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional Cooperation (IOR-ARC) scholarship would not cover courses in medicine or dentistry.

The candidates must pass an English proficiency test conducted by the High Commission of India and should not have serious health problems, New Straits Times said.

The scholarship would provide living allowance, house rent allowance, thesis and dissertation expenses, study tour expenses, among others, at rates prescribed by the ICCR while no airfare would be provided under the scheme, it added.

ICCR is the cultural arm working under the Ministry of External Affairs. Besides scholarships, it also organises exchange of artistes, scholars and musicians.
