With the UPSC declaring the final list of candidates making to the elite category of civic services on Wednesday, Panchkula girl Navya Singla (23), stood at rank 102 in the final merit list. A resident of Sector 8, her father is an orthopaedic surgeon and mother is a dental teacher.

Singla secured the rank in her very first attempt and is likely to join administrative or foreign service, which was her second option.

Navya said she was aiming of a better rank but was happy with her performance.

“Like everyone, I had a low point during the preparations. There was a stage when I had almost given up, but then the family support motivated me and helped me in achieving my goal,” she said.

Navya said the dedication was the key as she planned clearing civic services very early during the academic career. I am happy that I did not divert from my aim.

She said whichever service she joins, her focus will be to serve the society and contribute to the country’s development.

An alumnus of Bhawan Vidyalya, Sector 27, in 2012 she got All India rank 1 in commerce stream in CBSE’s Class-12. She joined Sri Ram College of Commerce and simultaneously began her preparation for civic services. She is currently doing her post graduation in economics from Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University.
