MICA’s course now in the distance mode

The PR and advertising course is targeted at students in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune and Hyderabad

Mudra Institute of Communications Ahmedabad (MICA) has teamed up with Hughes Communication India Ltd, to launch a postgraduate certificate programme in advertising management and public relations through the distance mode, the latter has announced.

This will be the sixth batch of the one-year course, now available to students outside Ahmedabad in association with Hughes Communications.

Due to start in April 2012, the course brings together MICA’s reputable faculty to help students across India with syllabus specific to PR and advertising, which can create marketing and communication professionals tailor-made for the Indian corporate sector.

MICA professors will employ a variety of teaching methodologies including, formal lectures, case studies, team and individual presentations, role-play and negotiations, action learning, group-discussions and workshops on specific aspects of communications and creative brief writing. Students can expect to also learn and use numerous tactical/implementation modules related to advertising and public relations including consumer behaviour, marketing research, digital marketing and media management.

Also, the programme is supposed to provide enrollees an opportunity to interact with industry thought leaders to get practical perspectives and tips on managing brands. Students will also get opportunities for discussions with professionals and peers from organisations facing a diverse set of brand positioning and marketing communication challenges.

Falguni Vasavda-Oza, programme director, MICA, said, “The specialised one-year programme combines with MICA’s best-in-breed teaching-learning methodologies to equip students with specific communications and advertising insights and learning. The focus is on imparting lessons through courseware that includes real life case-studies and practical sessions to ensure that students emerge as skilled professionals, armed with the necessary tools and knowledge to manage brands in the digital age.”

The course will be offered through the Interactive Onsite Learning (IOL) platform of Hughes Global Education.
