So, for the creative people who want to be surgeons of inanimate objects, this is the career to opt for. But, keep in mind that this field requires much more than creativity. It requires an instinctive grasp of colors and computer literacy, particularly in the field of 3-D model making.

Job Description

Product designers or Industrial designers are responsible for creating, modifying, or improving the form and function of a vast range of consumer goods. It is all about understanding customer needs, and translating those needs into winning product concepts that have realistic technical specifications.

Shape, colours, user perception, usability, and sustainability are some elements one will have to work with. You will be at the forefront of the next generation of ideas. If you possess some rudimentary drawing ability, artistic talent with a great knowledge about the latest happenings in the business front, half the battle is won.

The days are gone when a customer looked forward for something that could meet his needs blindly accepting the hideous machinery too. Today, he is at a wild hunt for something that meets both his needs and fancy.

Every company that deals in production of consumer items is looking for a product or industrial designer to not only make the product eye-catchy but also to match customer psychology. At every stage, a firm requires a product designer who can work in tandem with skilled technicians, marketing gurus, and price estimators in order to successfully minimise costs and maximise profits.

You can start earning anywhere from Rs 30,000-40,000 a month, with a wide scope to soar. However, mind it! This is a field where it is not the experience but the quality of work that counts.
