PSEB 10th Result 2019: Pass percentage of district improves by 19.8%

PSEB 10th Result 2019: The girls completely dominated the merit list as at least 17 girl students secured merit positions of total 19. Continuing the winning streak, girls bagged the top positions in the district.

The Patiala district has recorded improvement in pass percentage by 19.8% in Class-10 examination results of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) on Wednesday.

The district has witnessed a total pass percentage of 84.7% against 64.9% of last year. Of 20,772 students who appeared in the examination from district, 17,593 students have cleared the examination.

In the merit list of 336 students released by the board, 19 students are from schools in Patiala district.

The girls completely dominated the merit list as at least 17 girl students secured merit positions of total 19. Continuing the winning streak, girls bagged the top positions in the district.

Priyanka Rani of Sun Flower Model High School, Patiala, has topped the district with 98.92% marks by scoring 643 marks out of 650. 

Simran Kaur of Lucky Meeran Public School, Bhunerheri village, and Navneet Kaur of Play Ways Senior Secondary School, Patiala, shared the second position with 98.62% marks by scoring 641 marks out of 650. 

Tamana and Simarpreet Kaur of Sun Flower Model High School, Patiala, and Khushandeep Kaur of Senior Senior Secondary Model School, Punjabi University, Patiala, shared third spot with 98.31% marks. The trio scored 639 out of 650 marks.

District topper Priyanka Rani said her hard work has yielded distinctive results for her as she never expected to be part of the merit list. “I studied for more than eight hours every day. I have now opted for non-medical at higher secondary level,” she said.

She said it is a proud moment for the family and thanked her teachers for supporting her to excel in academics.

Pertinently, the performance of government schools remained unconvincing as only one student Amandeep Kaur of Government Senior Secondary School, Wazidpur village, secured 97.54% marks and made way into the merit list. 

PRIVATE SCHOOLS  DOMINATE 

The private schools across the district dominated the merit list. Of 19 students in the merit list, 18 are from private schools.

Navneet Kaur of Jathedar Balour Singh Memorial Senior Secondary (JBSMSS) School, Thamana village, scored 98.15% marks, Harmanpreet Singh of Sri Dashmesh Public Senior Secondary School, Patiala, got 98.15%, Tisha and Riya Thakur of Malwa Public Senior Secondary School, Nabha, got 98% marks.

Sandhya of Sun Flower Model High School, Patiala, also scored 98% marks. Rajwinder Kaur of JBSMSS School and Parveen Kaur of Lucky Meera Senior Secondary School, Bhunerheri village, secured 97.85%  marks.

Parminder Kaur of Baba Farid Public Institute of Education, Tarkheri, and Gautam of Malwa Public Senior Secondary School, Nabha,  got 97.69% marks. Amandeep Kaur of Government Senior Secondary School, Wazidpur village, and Simranjeet Kaur of BN Khalsa High School, Dhadoa, scored 97.54% marks. Prabhjot Kaur of New Malwa Public High School, Patran,  and Rupinder Kaur of JBSMSS School got 97.38% marks.
