UGC requests varsities to ensure degrees have photos, Aadhaar numbers

New Delhi The University Grants Commission (UGC) has requested all universities to introduce identification mechanisms like photographs and Aadhar number for degrees and certificates awarded to students, the Lok Sabha was informed on Monday.

“The UGC has also requested all the universities to inscribe the name of the institution in which a student is enrolled for a programme to study as well as the mode of delivery (regular, part-time or distance),” Union Minister of State for HRD Mahendra Nath Pandey said while replying to a question.

The UGC vide a letter dated March 21, 2017, had requested all the universities to introduce such identification mechanisms, he said.
