Description:Bijendra Prasad Yadav, a veteran socialist leader from Bihar and a continuously eight-time MLA from the Supaul assembly constituency, reunited with Nitish Kumar via the Janata Dal (United) formed under the leadership of Sharad Yadav after the original Janata Dal split. Nitish Kumar had previously formed the Samata Party after splitting from the Janata Dal. Bijendra Yadav won from Supaul on a Janata Dal ticket in 1990 and 1995. Since 2000, he has been consistently winning on a JDU ticket. There is no other MLA in the Bihar assembly with a tenure as long as his. In Lalu Prasad Yadav's government, he served as minister for power in 1990 and as for urban development in 1995. In the Nitish Kumar government as of September 2025, Bijendra Yadav remained a minister for power and urban development. He has repeatedly been given these two portfolios in several governments led by Nitish Kumar.
