In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election, there were 12 candidates in the fray from Indi constituency. Indi was one of 80 seats won by the Indian National Congress. Indian National Congress's Yashvantharaygouda Vittalagouda Patil won the election upstaging Janata Dal (Secular)'s B D Patil (HANJAGI) by a margin of 9,938 votes.
The top three candidates split 77.8% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Yashvantharaygouda Vittalagouda Patil got a total of 50,401 votes, while Janata Dal (Secular)'s B D Patil (HANJAGI) secured 40,463 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate Dayasagar Bapuraya Patil grabbed the third spot with 38,941 votes. The top three parties got 30.2%, 24.2% and 23.3% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's Yashavantarayagouda Vittalagouda Patil defeated Karnataka Jantha Paksha's Ravikant Shankreppa Patil by 33,302 votes.
