Dravida Munetra Kazhagam's Saba.Rajendran got a total of 54,299 votes, while All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Rajasekar R secured 36,508 votes. Tamizhaga Vaazhvurimai Katchi's candidate Velmurugan T grabbed the third spot with 30,528 votes. The top three parties got 34.5%, 23.2% and 19.4% respectively.
In Tamil Nadu Assembly election 2011, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's M.P.S.Sivasubramaniyan beat Pattali Makkal Katchi's T.Velmurugan by 8,118 votes.
