Uttar Pradesh Assembly election results 2022: Going by the exit polls, the BJP is set to make a comeback in Uttar Pradesh with a comfortable margin, although it is expected to secure less seats compared to the 2017 election.
Uttar Pradesh Assembly election results 2022: The counting of votes for the high-octane Uttar Pradesh assembly election will begin at 8am along with four other states -- Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur -- as the Election Commission of India (ECI) will declare the poll results on Thursday. Early trends are expected to start trickling in from 9am.
Voting for the 403-member Uttar Pradesh assembly was the longest among the five states, held in seven phases from February 10 to March 7. Notably, exit polls have strongly predicted a comeback of the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in UP, securing a comfortable majority, but with lesser seats compared to the 2017 tally. Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party is expected to finish second.
Almost all of the exit poll predictions, including India Today- Axis My India, Jan Ki Baat, News 24- Todays Chanakya, Times Now-VETO, and others, have projected that BJP will secure around 220-260 seats in Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, India TV -Ground Zero Research is the only one to project a close call between the BJP and SP, although the Yogi Adityanath-led party will remain in lead.
If the exit poll predictions turn out correct, this will be the first time that a chief minister in Uttar Pradesh completes a full term and gets re-elected.

In 2017, the BJP won by a landslide margin of over 300 seats, overthrowing the SP and BSP, which had dominated the state's politics for more than two decades.
While final results will come only later in the day, you can get realtime vote counting updates on the official website of the Election Commission -- results.eci.gov.in. Results can also be tracked on the ECI app, available on Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

1. Visit the Election Commission website – results.eci.gov.in
2. Click on the link that reads 'General Elections to Assembly Constituency March 2022'
3. Once the counting begins, you will be re-directed to a new window. (As of now, it says: Results trends will start from 8 AM on 10th March 2022)
4. Select your preferred state.
5. The live results will be on your screen.
